KUALA LUMPUR - The flood situation across Peninsular Malaysia on Friday afternoon was mixed,
with water levels falling in some areas and a small increase in the number of displaced people in
others. In Kedah, the situation had improved significantly with the majority of the evacuees
having returned home. At 4.00 pm there were only 9 people (from 2 families) remaining at the
Bukit Raya relief centre in Pendang, having been down from 25 earlier that morning.
Negri Sembilan, on the other hand, saw a small increase in the number of flood victims
throughout the day, rising from 71 in the morning to 82 by the afternoon (across 33 families).
The displaced in the Kuala Pilah area (including several children with disabilities) are being
accommodated at the moment between SK Undang Johol and the Dangi community hall, and
welfare officials have confirmed that all the evacuees are in good health.
Meanwhile, the situation in Perak held steady, with 23 people from seven families
remaining at SK Titi Serong in Kerian after being relocated on Thursday. Authorities are keeping
a close watch on the state, as the Malaysian Meteorological Department warned that rain was
expected to persist into Friday evening across several districts, including Hulu Perak, Kinta, and
Kuala Kangsar.
