The Foolish Bear

By Siti Sarah Sofea

It was said that a young bear was on a journey to find a new home

when he accidentally fell down a leaves-covered-pit.

Luck has it that he managed to hold a sturdy vine before he fell down completely.

Climbing the pit slowly, he was getting more tired and thirsty

when a drop of sweetness fell into his mouth.

"So delightful, so sweet," he thought.

Drop by drop, the golden liquid pulled him from reality.

Little by little, the grasp on the vine loosened.

As he muttered "life is good as long as it's sweet,"

his body started falling down like a cut down tree.

He didn't even get to mutter more words as he lost himself on the hidden wooden stakes.

The alluring honey he allowed in his mouth dragged himself down the deepest part of the pit.

Everyone thought he was careless and stupid to fall down a human-made trap.

No one talks about the sneaky tricks used.
