Yours Truly, Your Eldest Daughter

By Eden M. Sinclair

In strength, you are my teacher,

It taught me to survive this harsh land,

Resulting in a large amount of pain I can withstand,

You raised a woman with a masculine hand.

In my eyes, you tried to be kinder,

Despite the past that pulled you under,

Taught me toughness in the face of tragedy,

In case one day I'll be alone, only me.

I am one step closer to being free,

It's thanks to you, papa, I can live independently.
