IPOH, 29 September 2023: 15 shophouses caught on fire early in the morning at Kampung Sungai Korok, Jitra.

“Everything was destroyed in a blink of an eye,” said Mohd Akram Mohd Johari, the owner of the shophouses who had run the business with his younger brother, Mohd Aslam, for two years.

Mohd Akram only found out about the fire after many people came to his house to inform him of the news about his store. He rushed to the place, but there was nothing that could be saved.

“It was sad seeing the shop we have run for two years being caught in a fire because there is a lot of stuff being kept in the store," he stated in a report. “Next to our shop was a motorcycle shop, and the rest of them were mostly residential houses, but people managed to escape the fire.”
