GOMBAK, October 11, 2023: The opening of CiTRA Open Day with the tagline ‘Garis Nostalgia’ starts strong with exhibition booths in the IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC) showcasing the representation of arts and culture through various clubs under the Centre for Arts & Cultural Sustainable Development (CiTRA).

Among them are clubs like Sutra Pawana, Andeka Caklempong, Gamelan Gema Gangsa, IIUM Theatre Club and IIUM Poetry Club.

Visitors seem delighted when given a chance to gain hands-on experience playing several musical instruments that are usually seen performed on stage, like angklung, gamelan, and caklempong, assisted by club members at the booth. Some were seen painting canvases at the IIUM Art Club booth and creating short poems at the IIUM Poetry Club booth.

Also, engaging and eye-opening games and quizzes were prepared for the students and staff to learn more about the clubs under CiTRA, with some leaving with small tokens of appreciation like a miniature angklung.

Some clubs, such as IIUM Percussion Club and Sutra Pawana, held a mini-performance for the audience to delight in. Impressive awards were also showcased by several clubs, boosting their credibility and attractiveness.

Not far from the ICC, a food bazaar and food trucks flooded the IIUM Riverside and the compound of the IIUM Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque, also held by CiTRA.

Nearing afternoon, huge crowds formed around the food vendors selling delightful refreshments such as mango shakes, quesadillas, mentai, and sate.

The main purpose of CiTRA Open Day is to expose new students to the variety of cultural clubs offered by CiTRA and encourage them to join and audition for the clubs.
