WESTON-SUPER-MARE, ENGLAND, 29th November 2023: Police initiated a murder inquiry upon discovering a deceased body while aiding a potential robbery victim.

At around 4:15 a.m. on Monday, Avon and Somerset police were summoned to the Royal Grosvenor Hotel in Weston-super-Mare following reports of a robbery.

Engaging with a man they thought to be the victim, officers escorted him to an Upper Church Road address, discovering a seriously injured man at the location.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts from emergency services, including paramedics administering CPR.

Arrested on suspicion of murder, two men in their 40s were initially hospitalised with injuries, but following their release, they are currently in police custody.

Officers are conducting house-to-house inquiries, reviewing CCTV footage, and maintaining a substantial police cordon at both the hotel and Upper Church Road.

As part of the ongoing investigation, residents in some areas were asked to leave their waste bins outside by the authorities. The request covers the residents of Knightstone Road, Lower Church Road, Lovers Walk, South Terrace, Park Place, Royal Crescent, Upper Church Road, Raglan Place, Greenfields Place, and Victoria Park.

Following the unsettling incident that has perturbed the community, Inspector Graeme Hall stated, “To provide reassurance to local residents, neighbourhood officers have increased patrols in the area and we’d encourage people to approach them if they have any questions. ”***
