JOHOR, 8th November 2024: Recently, a new initiative is set to be implemented by the newly launched Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) in which Johor will make history by offering premium salary packages starting from RM4,000 to RM5,000.
Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi announced the ambitious initiative during the Johor Career Carnival at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre on Sunday, 3rd November.

The council will play a significant role in ensuring the vision comes true. This will hugely benefit skilled workers involved in specific sectors related to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
In his speech, he highlighted the significance of this initiative, "We recognise the fierce competition for retaining skilled workers, particularly given Singapore's higher minimum wage after conversion.
"Johor is addressing this challenge by establishing a premium minimum salary of RM4,000 for diploma holders and RM5,000 for those with equivalent degree qualifications."
For clarification, the minimum wage of a local company in Malaysia is RM1,700 whereas if a Malaysian chooses to work in Singapore with minimum wage (SGD1,500) it will be RM5,210 when converted.
Therefore, with this initiative, it is hoped that it will create more job opportunities for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates, to retain local skilled talents and ease the parents’ concern for the future of their children’s career.— TBC
