GOMBAK, 31st OCTOBER 2024: Excitement is in the air as Caring Club IIUM launches its annual Sayang Mega Project of this year, promising a touch of Malay traditional night as the opening ceremony to its audience and a special invitation from an orphanage, Rumah Penyayang Nur Iman. In collaboration with CiTRA Club IIUM and Silat IIUM, the program brought 6 exclusive performances from Caklempong, Dikir Barat, Percussion, Acoustic, and Silat on the memorable stage for two hours. The stage was also greeted with a creative opening gimmick of finding the missing puzzle among the audience.

Unforgettably, the traditional performances were designed to bridge cultures and bring IIUM students, public members and the orphans together, exposing them to diverse communities for a once-in-a-while opportunity. One of the biggest attractions of the program was the beautifully decorated photo booth, set up outside the area of the Main Auditorium.

To launch such a big event, preparations started in July, starting with proposal-making, committee screening, and promotional activities that were carried out until the 28th of October 2024.

During the many months, there were hurdles along the way. “It’s natural for everyone to make a mistake,” expressed Br Arash Shamsuddin, the program manager of Sayang Traditional Night. “Nevertheless, I am thankful for my team.”

The program concluded with a token of appreciation ceremony for the performers and the orphanage, while the audience was left with smiles and laughter — TBC.
