Surely you know that these are our future teachers, but do you know that the TESL students in IIUM have an annual event such as TESL Theatre Day?
1.1 Theatre Day Poster
Yes, it is an upcoming event managed by TESL students, this Sunday, 17th of November at 8:30 a.m. at Main Auditorium, IIUM Gombak!
Making the event happen surely demands great planning of details and hard work. We have acquired two committees sharing their experiences regarding the inner workings and details of TESL Theatre Day.
1.2 Sister Ain Zakirah
Sister Ain Zakirah, the Programme Manager for the mentioned event, shared that her job requires her to manage everything related to the event. Her job scope includes assigning tasks to fellow committees, liaising to book the venue and many more.
1.3 Sister Lidia Farysa
As for Sister Lidia Farysa,the Head of Public Relations, she was responsible for sending invitation emails to universities and schools to the TESL Theatre Day. All the catchy viral messages attached to each media posting were posted by them on their social media platforms.
They have also shared the challenges they faced to ensure the event run smoothly. Ain mentioned that getting a large audience is quite hard, and they needed the best plan to make it successful. She added that there was some problem in obtaining all the equipment needed as there was some equipment unavailable at the office. Nonetheless, there wasn’t a problem that can’t be solved by good cooperation and teamwork among the committees of the Bureaus.
After all, they are both nervous and excited as well as the event is just around the corner. As the Programme Manager, Ain hopes that everything will run successfully for the TESL Theatre Day this year. She also hopes the audiences enjoy the plays. Lidia hopes that the other committees will perform their tasks well until the end of the programme.
From their sharing, it can be seen that the work behind making a programme happen requires a big amount of commitment, effort and good teamwork. So, let’s support them by watching the theatre!
TESL Theatre Day will be showcasing three tales on one stage; they are “The Adventures of Moana: Beyond the Reef,” “ Mahsuri and the Tale of Baghdad" and “Tale of King Mahmud & The Conditions.”
Furthermore, IIUM Andeka Caklempong and Piano-Violin Duet will also be there for special performances. So, what are you waiting for? Do not miss out on the event! The TESL Theatre Day excitement is coming for you.
