Kuala Lumpur, 2nd October, 2024 — The National Press Club (NPC) of Malaysia is set to host its 2024 golf tournament at Tropicana Golf and Country Resort on November 26, with a historic first-time appearance by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
This marks the first occasion where a royal couple will be participating in an event organized by the NPC, a move expected to draw attention from high-profile figures and the media industry.
NPC President Datuk Ahirudin Attan stated that the event aims to strengthen relationships between the NPC, the government, corporate sectors, and media professionals. “Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to put this event on hold for seven years. With the pandemic behind us, we have revived this event to bring people together again,” he said.
The tournament, expected to attract around 120 participants, will include cabinet ministers, foreign dignitaries, corporate leaders, senior editors, and journalists, fostering networking and camaraderie among professionals from various fields.
The competition will feature three categories: Men’s, Ladies, and Seniors, the latter being for golfers aged 65 and above. Participants can look forward to an array of lucky draw prizes and a complimentary goodie bag for each registrant.
In previous NPC golf tournaments, the guest of honor was usually either the Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister. The inclusion of the royal couple this year underscores the significance of the event’s return, further highlighting the importance of media and corporate relations in Malaysia.
With the participation of the Sultan and Tengku Ampuan, this year's tournament is set to be a memorable occasion that not only showcases the NPC's commitment in rebuilding post-pandemic connections but also reaffirms its longstanding relationship with national leaders and dignitaries.
The entry fee is set at RM450 for NPC members and RM600 for non-members. Registration forms are available at the NPC Clubhouse on 84, Jalan Tangsi, off Jalan Parlimen. For further information, interested participants can visit the NPC Clubhouse or contact the provided number (012-632 0061) to secure their spot in this prestigious event.
