KUALA LUMPUR, 18th September 2024: Crowds of fans mobbed the American YouTube star Darren Watkins Jr., widely known as IShowSpeed, upon his arrival in the Malaysia capital city, Kuala Lumpur.

While touring several locations in Kuala Lumpur, IShowSpeed attracted thousands of his viewers. Based on his live broadcast, his appearances with bodyguards and his members appeared to be almost chaotic.

IShowSpeed was seen enjoying some durian when he paid a visit to the Jalan Alor food market, but was overwhelmed by the growing chaos of his fans. Visibly, the fans kept pushing against one another to get a clear vision of him.

The situation intensified when he was hounded on his way to a restaurant. As recorded on the livestream, the crowd repeatedly chanted the phrase “IShowSpeed” at deafening volumes.

The restaurant's management was forced to seal its doors to prevent the crowd from entering and mobbing. IShowSpeed expressed his concern after knowing the fact that his chaotic fans had reportedly destroyed the escalator to reach him.

He said, “In terms of like craziness, this might be, out of our whole tour, this might be like, number one. I think this is more crazy than the Philippines.”

Many Malaysians have expressed their disappointment and embarrassment towards the disrespectful and embarrassing fans through social media postings. This kind of obsessive behaviour causes more damage than good; therefore, it should not be repeated. — TBC
