KUALA LUMPUR, 11th December 2023: Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, a six-year-old autistic child who was reported missing since Tuesday, was found dead near a river not far from his home.
The police believe that the child was murdered elsewhere before being abandoned near the river in Damansara Damai.
Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said that they had searched the 300-metres area for two days with the help of the local community, yet the body was still not discovered.
But then the child’s body, who was still in his school uniform, was discovered on the second night of the search, where they had already searched before.
It was stated that the spot where the victim’s body was discovered, is a remote area and rarely visited by people. There is no CCTV found at that place which made the police revisit the site to collect more evidence.
Regarding the suspect, the police said that it was likely possible that he could be from the nearby area which makes him very familiar with it.
After the autopsy found signs of injuries on the victim, the police ruled out drowning as a possible cause of death and classified it as murder.
The result of the post-mortem examination showed that the child had injuries that match with strangling (neck’s compression) and other injuries that were believed to be defensive wounds.
After the autopsy at Hospital Sungai Buloh, his body was buried at Section 9 Muslim Cemetery in Kota Damansara, soon after the funeral prayer at Masjid Damansara Damai.
