GOMBAK, 3rd April 2024: The Secretariat of English Language and Literature (ELITS) held a captivating event titled BENL Iftar: Flavour of Faith on Sunday, March 31, 2024. The event, hosted at the MPH, Mahallah Hafsa, aimed to foster spiritual enrichment and communal harmony among its members and guests.
The program commenced at 6:30 PM and was attended by Dr Homam, Dr Tanja, and Dr Mahmudul, along with several alumni from the BENL (Bachelor of English Language and Literature) program. The evening started with a du’a, invoking divine blessings upon the assembly, followed by warm, welcoming remarks from the President of ELITS, Nor Shahira.

The event got even more exciting with a prize-giving ceremony for the Sampul Raya competition. In this contest, people showed off their creativity by designing special envelopes used to give money during Eid. The winners got their own designs printed on the envelopes as their prizes. It was a fun way to celebrate our cultural traditions and the talent within the IIUM community.

The attendees gathered for the much-anticipated Iftar session, breaking their fast together with a lot of meals that were served. After the meal, all the people performed Maghrib prayer together, nurturing the importance of spiritual devotion and communal bonding.

After that, the audience immersed themselves in a reflective tazkirah session led by the insightful Dr. Mahmudul Hasan. His discourse delved into faith, morality, and self-improvement, resonating deeply with the attentive listeners. The session seamlessly transitioned into the Isya’ and Taraweh prayers, aligning hearts and minds in collective worship and contemplation.

As the night drew to a close, the event concluded with a photography session, capturing the cherished moments and smiles shared throughout the evening. Participants exchanged heartfelt goodbyes, leaving the venue with spirits uplifted and hearts enriched by the enlightening experience.
“I’m proud and grateful for the success of this program and the large number of participants it attracted. It truly motivates us, the committee members, especially considering this is the first major event of ELITS for this tenure. It’s motivating for us, the committee, to organise even more programs for BENL students.” Said Shahira, president of ELITS.
