GOMBAK, 29th April 2024: The Secretariats of English Language and Literature (ELITS) hosted a grand Eid al-Fitr celebration, aptly named “Bling Bling Raya,” at the Main Purpose Hall (MPH) Mahallah Maryam. This event, held on 21st April 2024 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., was a testament to the vibrant spirit of the BENL community.
Eid al Fitr, a celebration that unites friends and families, is a season of joy for all Muslims. ELITS seized this opportunity to celebrate the joyous occasion with fellow BENL students and lecturers, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
The event started with opening remarks from the emcees, Br. Aiman Zhafran and Sr. Qistina Hairil, and a du'a recitation by Br. Muaz to bless the event. The event continued with a speech by the Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, Dr. Tanja Jonid, and the advisor of ELITS, Dr. Homam Altabaa. Lecturers from the Department of English Language and Literature (DELL), including Mr. Mazlan, Dr. Nora, and Dr. Maimunah, attended this event.

At 8:30 p.m., all guests and participants were welcomed to enjoy the meals served, such as lemang, rendang, and nasi impit, as well as desserts and kuih raya, all of which are common Malay traditional foods during Eid al-Fitr celebration.

The event was filled with joy and excitement as participants engaged in lively performances from bands and solo karaoke. ELITS added to the fun with an interactive game session using Quiz.com. The participants' enjoyment and excitement were palpable, adding to the thrill of the event. The top three winners were rewarded with special gifts, further enhancing the excitement.
The event proceeded with a lucky draw session with a twist called the “lucky hunt.” Participants must wander around the venue to find a sampul Raya containing lucky numbers, and only 30 lucky winners will win the prizes.
Adding a unique touch to the event, the lucky draw prizes were all preloved items, generously contributed by the members of ELITS. This thoughtful gesture aimed to create a sense of community and appreciation, as these items held sentimental value for their previous owners.
After all the fun, the event continued with an award ceremony for the King and Queen of the Night, the Best-Dressed Awards. The awards went to Sr. Widad and Br. Zul Ihsan, whose exquisite outfits gave off Eid vibes.
The multimedia team of the event led a photography session from 10:15 p.m to 10:30 p.m. The session thus marked the end of the event.

Overall, being a part of this great event, which is one of the most significant events held by ELITS, was a delightful and wonderful experience. It is hoped that more of such events will be held in the future.***
