GOMBAK, 29 April 2024: Mahallah Maryam Representative Committees (MRC Mahallah Maryam) hosted an entrepreneurship event week, named “Blossom and Bliss: Women’s Entrepreneurship and Wellness Enhancement,” at the Main Purpose Hall (MPH) of Mahallah Maryam. The event that was held on the 17th to 19th May 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 9 p.m., was a testament to the vibrant spirit of the Mahallah Maryam young entrepreneurs and residents.
‘Blossom & Bliss’ was specially organised in light of celebrating young women entrepreneurs among the IIUM community and serves as a platform for them to improve their business skills while at the same time enhancing their well-being as a woman.
On the first day of the three-day event, it started with an online talk about career journeys for women by Dr. Nurazzura Binti Mohamad Diah, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The talk focused on how a woman can wisely make decisions on their career journey in this world which is currently full of discrimination towards women inside the working industry. During the talk, which was held via Microsoft Teams, various student vendors were operating their businesses. To name a few of these vendors, “Tana Bonito X Qussa,” which sold Nasi Lemak, coconut jelly, Mac n Cheese, fresh flowers, accessories, DIY clay, preloved outfits, and scarves; “Kimpeng.cake,” which sold baby pancakes along side takoyakis; “Yummy Dessert,” which sold Sambal bilis garing, Swiss rolls, chocolate jars, and homemade cookies. “J.scarf,” that sold scarves by Minaz and Leeyana Rahman, and lastly a vendor specially established by MRC Mahallah Maryam themselves, “Loved by Maryam,” that offers Nims Chocotub, homemade cookies, official K-pop photocards, preloved outfits, and accessories. The vendor's operation hours were conducted from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on all three days.

On the second day of the grand event, the programme manager, Mardhiah Husna Binti Tarmizi, had invited the Executive Senior Sale Director of Mary Kay Malaysia, Madam Adriana Sharmaine Binti Hariri and her team, to the MPH of Mahallah Maryam as the speaker for the events second workshop session named “Embrace Your Skin, Boost Your Confidence: Skin Care and Beauty Workshop.” The workshop focused on the practicality of skin care and beauty routines. Every participant had gotten a chance to try Mary Kay products for free and also got free skin consultation from the Mary Kay beauty consultants. At the end of the workshop session, all participants were exquisitely beautified with help from the Mary Kay team.

On the third day of the event, they continued with their last talk session, also by Dr. Nurazzura Binti Mohamad Diah, entitled “Beauty is a Woman: How to Take Care of Ourselves during Menstruation,” which focused on self-care while experiencing their monthly menstrual cycle. And as mentioned before in the beginning, the vendor's operation hours were from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
All in all, being a part of this great event, which was one of the biggest events held by the MRC Mahallah Maryam, was a really enjoyable and wonderful experience. I hope to join more MRC Mahallah Maryam programmes and events in the future! ***
