GOMBAK, 5 January 2025: A total of 21 students from the ENGL 3354 course (Literature and Sustainable Development), under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aimillia Binti Mohd Ramli, organized Berbudi Bahasa: Bengkel Seni dan Penulisan Kreatif. It is a community engagement initiative aimed at nurturing creativity and teamwork in children. Designed as part of their assignment, the program targeted participants aged 8 to 12 and featured workshops blending modules, arts and creative writing.
The two-day project, a collaboration between ENGL 3354 and ELITS, was held on December 22, 2024, at Kebun Komuniti Gombak Utara, and December 29, 2024, at Pusat Akar Budi. The program served as a platform to inspire young minds while promoting sustainable practices through creative expression.
On the first day, participants engaged in an exciting treasure hunt featuring six interactive checkpoints. Each checkpoint presented engaging tasks that encouraged creativity and teamwork among the children. The activity provided a fun and dynamic start to the program, allowing participants to bond while exploring new ideas in an interactive setting.

The second day focused on creative writing, with modules designed to introduce poetry in a simple and age-appropriate manner. Activities were organized as checkpoints, where participants completed tasks designed to make poetry writing enjoyable and accessible. This approach kept the children engaged and allowed them to express their thoughts and emotions through creative writing.

The facilitators, comprising 21 ENGL 3354 students, played an essential role in guiding the participants throughout the program. They designed and conducted the sessions, creating a warm and supportive environment for the children to learn and grow.
Feedback from the young participants was highly encouraging, with many sharing their excitement about learning new skills and showcasing their creations. Parents and guardians also expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its effectiveness in nurturing their children’s creative potential.
For the ENGL 3354 students, the experience was equally rewarding, as it allowed them to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting while contributing to the community.
