KUALA LUMPUR, 24 July 2023: In a world where access to quality education can shape the course of one's life, a ray of hope shines brightly with the Guide Me Project. The esteemed Harmoni IIUM Club, a student organization at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), has embarked on a noble mission to uplift the lives of underprivileged children and teenagers in the community of Projek Perumahan Rumah Transit (PPRT) Sungai Kertas, Batu Caves.
The Guide Me Project, aptly themed "Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow," has been a beacon of support for B40 families struggling to afford additional tuition for their children's education for nearly seven years. Led by the Bureau of Dakwah and Volunteering, Harmoni IIUM Club is committed to bridging educational gaps and providing mentorship to these young learners. IIUM Gombak students enthusiastically volunteer to tutor the children in Mathematics and English, fostering a sense of responsibility, leadership, and empathy among their mentees.
The driving force behind the Guide Me Project is the belief that education is a powerful tool, capable of transforming lives, breaking the chains of poverty, and igniting the flame of progress. By offering free tuition and educational opportunities to the PPRT Sungai Kertas community, the initiative aims to elevate their living standards and open the doors to brighter futures.
On July 17, the project marked a significant milestone with a memorable event at Beryl's Chocolate Factory. The team enjoyed interacting with the excited children of Rumah Panjang Kampung Sungai Kertas. The trip to the chocolate factory was enjoyable and educational, exposing the young students to new knowledge and experiences outside of their academic studies.
In accordance with the committees, witnessing the children's excitement and involvement during the visit reaffirmed the importance of the Guide Me Project's mission of empowering the future through education. The trip served as a fitting celebration of the hard work and dedication put into the project over the years, reinforcing the belief that education and compassion can create meaningful and lasting changes in the lives of underprivileged children.
In a world striving for progress and equity, the Guide Me Project stands as a shining example of how a compassionate and dedicated group of individuals can transform lives through education. As they illuminate the path to a brighter and more empowered future, the project serves as a lighthouse of hope, guiding the way for a generation of learners to become tomorrow's leaders.
