GAZA, 27th November 2023: A momentary peace was held when all hope seemed lost by the oppression against the Palestinians.

On the 24th of November, a four-day cease-fire deal was signed between Israel and Hamas to put a pause on the ongoing war. Qatar, the United States, and Egypt were the mediators of the agreement. Though Hezbollah was not part of the deal, it is highly expected for them to halt attacks on Israel.

It is reported that Israeli forces allowed a limited amount of help — about 130,000 litres of fuel per day during the cease-fire, which is not sufficient for the Palestinians.

Other than that, the deal also agreed on releasing hostages from both sides. The situation began when Hamas released 24 prisoners, which included 13 Israelis and others were 10 Thais and one Filipino, who were released through a different agreement mediated by Qatar. In exchange, a total of 39 Palestinian prisoners were released by Israel, consisting of women and minors who were prioritised to be released first.

Israel had warned the Palestinians not to return to the north, as it is their ground offensive. Nevertheless, hundreds of Palestinians were seen walking back to the north.

A resident named Sofian Abu Amer took the risk and stated, “We don’t have enough clothes, food, and drinks. The situation is disastrous. It's better for a person to die.”

Meanwhile, Netanyahu stated the cease-fire allowed his army to prepare and reform for the war after it ended. Airstrikes will most likely resume, and Gaza residents will have to face the same thing again after four days.

Although many thought the cease-fire would give a temporary peace to both sides, this concerns the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“It is a relief, but facing the violent regime that made the statement that they would continue with violence is really worrying us," he said after performing Friday prayers at Surau Al-Furqan in Precinct 11 on the 24th of November.

The cease-fire deal was announced after 48 days of war since it broke on the 7th of October 2023.***
