GOMBAK, 3rd January 2025: In preparation for the upcoming revision period, Mahallah Safiyyah organised a week dedicated to reading called Reading Week Rush programme. The three sub-events—Book Recommendation, Book Donation Drive, and Reading Room Makeover—were conducted separately for over five consecutive days from the 25th until 29th December 2024. This programme aimed to encourage reading habits among students and introduce them to books that can be read during leisure time and are useful for their studies.
Book Recommendation was held online via Mahallah Safiyyah’s WhatsApp group where a post of recommended books was shared on a daily basis for residents to discover inspiring reading materials. An online Padlet was also created as a platform for students to share reviews and have discussions about their favourite books. The Padlet may be viewed through the link here:

Meanwhile, Book Donation Drive encouraged students to donate items, mainly books and stationeries, to add to Mahallah Safiyyah’s reading room resources. A book drop zone was available throughout the five-day programme for students to donate their items.
On the last day of the programme, the committees invited students to help clean Mahallah Safiyyah’s reading room. Reading Room Makeover gathered residents of Mahallah Safiyyah to transform the reading room into a more conducive space for students to revise and study. Additional items such as bean bags and portable study tables were added to the reading room for students’ use.
