GOMBAK, 30th December 2023: Volunteers from AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) visited Masjid Gombak Utara on 16th December for Ruhul Izzah, a programme organised by the Council of Student Enhancement and Community Engagement (SECE), IRKHS Students’ Society (IRKHSSS), MPKK Gombak Utara, and Masjid Kampung Gombak Utara.

Ruhul Izzah is a programme under the Gombak Sejahtera Engagement Team (G-SET) project that aims to educate the youngsters in Kampung Gombak Utara on the basic knowledge of Islam, produce holistic individuals in matters of the world and afterlife, and provide an opportunity for AHAS KIRKHS students to serve the local community.

The programme is divided into two sessions, which were held on 16th December and 6th January. Each session is dedicated to primary and secondary school children, respectively.

The first session aims to empower students with knowledge of Islamic practices and beliefs, targeting children aged seven to twelve.

Children of Kampung Gombak Utara were exposed to religious knowledge of Islamic rituals, such as prayers and ablution, in theory and practice. They were familiarised with the steps of ablution and prayers before practising them, guided by the facilitators.

The programme continued with the children learning the pillars of Islam and Iman through engaging songs and gestures. The learning session took a step further by integrating knowledge with engaging games and quizzes, allowing the children to interact with each other to answer the questions provided.

Lastly, the participants were taught to read the two common Surahs in prayers, which are Al-Fatihah and Al-Ikhlas, with the facilitators explaining the meaning to provide a better understanding of the importance of these two chapters in the Quran for their daily prayers.

A photography session with the participants and committees marked the end of the programme.

In regards to the overall success of the programme, Aisyah Nabilah, programme manager for Ruhul Izzah, commented, “Alhamdulillah, it was well conducted. Although there were slight issues here and there, it was all internal. It was also a success [to see] the committees enjoying their time [while] interacting with the kids.”

“In general, I hope this initiative will continue even after my tenure ends. [I hope] that we could tackle more villages around Gombak [and] give them hope and inspiration to continue to fly high,” she continued.

Forty volunteers from KIRKHS came together to make this programme a success.

Another upcoming programme under Ruhul Izzah G-Set will be held next month on 6th January, so stay tuned!
