Scholarship Advancement Programme 2023: Endeavour to the Betterment of Knowledge

GOMBAK, September 30, 2023: On September 27, the Department of English Language and Literature (DELL) held a Scholarship Advancement Programme (SAP) 2023 at At-Tabari in the Human Science department.


The SAP 2023 was attended by esteemed lecturers in DELL, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zahariah Pilus, Dr. Rabiah Tul Adawiyah Mohamed Salleh, and Dr. Homam Altabaa, as well as students.

In regards to the purpose of SAP, Dr. Rabiah Tul Adawiyah, the head of the organising committee, acknowledged that the programme “is to provide a sharing space where we can share our research endeavours, our research interests." The programme commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Tanja Jonid, the head of the department.


The programme proceeded with thought-provoking presentations from DELL staff. Among them were Fulfilling TCRIP: The Case of Diniyyah Puteri Language Immersive Programme by Dr. Ainul Azmin Md Zamin, The Concept of Justice in Selected Fictional Writings of Usman Awang and Hamka by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aimillia Mohd. Ramli, and Language Deception in the Conversation of a Male and Female Criminal by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adlina Hj. Ariffin.

Prof. Dr. Shukran bin Abd. Rahman, Dean of Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), who graced the programme, stressed the importance of disseminating knowledge and showing the integrated character of KIRKHS.


This is in line with one of the main objectives of SAP, which is to propel the academic’s role in advancing the scholarship they specialise in or lead.

Such initiative would lead to advancements of scholarships in five areas, which are Scholarship of Discovery, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Scholarship of Integration, Islamization or Relevantisation, Scholarship of Application, and Scholarship of Community Engagement.


Consequently, SAP has succeeded in encouraging academics to share their research findings with each other and with a larger audience through written forms such as books and journal articles. It also fulfils the aim of generating knowledge and spreading it through various mediums. ***
