GOMBAK, 12 May 2023: The Communication Festival, or CommFess 2023, was organized by the Department of Communication, the Communication Students’ Association (COSA), and the Internship Class of 22-23 Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS).
The event was held mainly in Human Science Square, AHAS KIRKHS Building, from May 8 to 12, 2023.
Various booths from media units under the Department of Communication were presented around Human Science Square. Among them were IIUMTV and IIUM.fm booths featuring podcasts, confession sessions, and an anonymous confession board.
Also on the scene was an exhibition of mind maps and infographics on various communication fields produced by the students of communication, were posted up for display.
In addition, talks on effective communication skills in a career, effective crisis management, and the foundation of strong networks were imparted. The panels are from IIUM and feature speakers who worked with prominent companies such as ASTRO, Bernama, and Sinar Daily.
Famous personalities such as Faizal Ismail, Lin Ariffin, and Ustaz Hadhari were also invited to Sembang Santai on Stage: Creating Content: Going Viral with Values by IIUM.fm.
The scene was dotted with vendors of sweets and snacks such as Krispy Kreme and cocktail drinks, and representatives from the communication department, COSA Corner 11.0, and IPRMSA IIUM Chapter that sell delicacies and preloved items.
“As a non-communication major student, this is such an eye-opener to the world of the media industry,” said Nur Asilah, an English major student.
The Communication Festival, or CommFess 2023, was marked by success, with many students from different departments joining in the fun. ***
