The Fall Forward

By Darwina Natasha

“Am I ready for this?”

she asks no one,

her voice barely more than a breath.

Behind her, everything feels safe—

familiar, steady,

but heavy, like a room she’s outgrown.

The edge ahead is sharp,

the air tingles with uncertainty,

and her hands shake.

“I’m scared,” she says,

her chest tight with doubt.

But somewhere in the fear,

there’s a flicker,

warm and bright.

“It’s okay to be scared,”

the words rise from somewhere deep,

as she steps forward.

Because waiting feels heavier

than the leap into the unknown.
